Blue Belles is an all-girl band from Northern Kentucky. Their creative and subtle style comes from countless hours spent in jam sessions, festival performances and professional seminars. More importantly they carry an unusual respect for the authors of bluegrass music.
When you hear this band you will recognize the Eastern Kentucky slant on the fiddle. You will hear hard-driving three-finger on the banjo. You will hear confident and articulate flat-picking on the guitar. You will hear every beat of the bass. You will hear vocal harmonies unlike any other. Above all else, you will hear phenomenal music.
At age fourteen, Chloe was a founding member and lead singer of the youth bluegrass band, Kentucky Sassafras. Chloe plays the banjo, both hard-driving three-finger and melodious claw hammer. She studied vocal performance at the University of Louisville and trained in Opera. Her vocal abilities cannot go unnoticed.
Amelia began learning the upright bass at the age of ten and by age twelve was playing along side Chloe in Kentucky Sassafras. Amelia enjoys listening to classic rock and isn't afraid to apply techniques from the genre to make Blue Belles shine above the rest. She adds an amazing baritone to the mixture of vocals that define the Blue Belles.
Andrea started by learning the banjo but quickly fell in love with the guitar. She has dedicated all of her spare time learning to play like the famous Tony Rice. When listening to Blue Belles you will notice her clean flat-picking right away. One of only a few women who have mastered this skill she is an integral member of the Blue Belles.
Ellie is the youngest belle of the band. She has had numerous experiences growing up in a musical family. Ellie studies classical music at he University of Louisville for a degree in viola performance. As much as she loves playing for her orchestra, reading notes off a page wasn't enough for Ellie. She wanted to be able to improvise and bluegrass is her outlet.
